Bodean’s BBQ - Soho

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I came here - probably in my postgraduate days.

The ground floor used to be the walk in part of the restaurant with long shared tables whilst the downstairs was the bookable part. Now the ground floor mirrors the basement and I miss the rough and ready feel it used to have.

All would be forgiven if the food was still good.

Craving BBQ after watching Alvin Zhou’s documentary on Goldee's BBQ in Texas, it didn’t get off to a good start. I asked the waitress what was good today and she didn’t know. Somewhat surprising and a bit worrying.

Ending up with the beef burnt ends dinner, it was fine though somewhat over-sauced. Wanted to taste the meat itself but it was fine. Chips were decent enough.

For the price point and that it wasn’t a terrible meal, it’s not somewhere I’d militantly avoid but it’s also not a place that I’d likely come back to again. Not with far better choices for BBQ in London nowadays.

PS: The tray looks a bit odd colour-wise given the mixed green and purple lighting they had at the bar.
