Salt Yard

As I alternate between trying out brand new restaurants and revisiting current favourites, I mix in places that I used to go to years ago to see what they are like today.

Such as this place - one of the earliest places that introduced me to Spanish cuisine where the dishes were always dependably delicious.

Since then, the Spanish food scene has gone from strength to strength. Sadly, this place doesn’t seem to have progressed and may have even regressed. Probably not helped by the departure of Chef Ben Tish in 2017 and then its sale to the Urban Bars & Pubs group in 2018.

Today, it serves food that’s functionally fine. Nothing that stood out as a must-have dish, nothing that was a complete write off, all very safely in the middle-of-the-road.

But for the same price point, there are so many other better options to do instead. Just a shame that this place couldn’t keep up though at least I’ll have my fond memories of this place.
